QR Code
A QR Code is a two-dimensional code that was originally intended to allow content to be decoded at high speeds. The QR is an abbreviation for Quick Response, and can have a variety of information encoded within the data matrix including text, URL, and other data. A dedicated QR barcode reader and camera phones can read this embedded information.
Few Examples of uses:
- Take viewers to a Website (mobile or traditional)
- Hold business card information, automatically downloading name, address, e-mail and other info into the phone's contacts
- They can store a date in the phone's calendar
- They can launch a pre-populated e-mail
- They can deliver a text message or coupon code
An example of a specific of a QR code would be to have it on your business card and have the contact info embedded into the QR code. When the card is passed out to a prospect using a camera phone with a QR reader they can simply read the QR and the contact info will be abstracted and prompt you if you want to add to your contacts, saving the user the task of having to hand type all info on business card into their contacts manually.
